Information we handle

Your release data

Track and release titles, dates and labels you enter are stored locally on your device, using the app's own local storage. This data is never uploaded, synced or transmitted to us or to any third party — we simply never see it. Uninstalling the app or clearing its local data removes it for good.

Purchases

Windows purchases are handled by Microsoft Store. We do not receive or store your card details or Microsoft account credentials. Microsoft handles the purchase and related account information under its own Privacy Statement.

Update checks

The Windows Microsoft Store version is updated by Microsoft Store. The macOS version may check our public GitHub release feed for a newer version and download an update from GitHub if you choose to install it. Microsoft or GitHub receives the standard technical information any web request includes, such as your IP address and request time — see Microsoft's Privacy Statement and GitHub's Privacy Statement.

Reminders

Release-date reminders are scheduled and shown locally by your operating system's own notification system. Nothing is sent anywhere for this feature.

This website

This site doesn't run analytics or advertising trackers. Our hosting provider (Vercel) automatically logs basic technical request information, like IP address and browser type, for security and reliability — as with almost every website.

Support Communications

When you contact us through our support form, we may collect your name, email address, application platform/version, and the contents of your message. This information is used solely to respond to your request, provide customer support, investigate technical issues, and improve Release Tracker. We do not sell this information to third parties.

Who we share it with

We don't sell personal information, and we don't use it for advertising. The only parties involved are the ones that make the app, its distribution and this website work:

• Microsoft — Microsoft Store distribution, Windows purchases and Store updates.
• GitHub — hosts macOS app update files and version information.
• Vercel — hosts this website and its support form endpoint.
• Resend — delivers support form submissions to us by email.

Each of these only receives what's needed for its role, described above.

How long we keep it

We don't hold any purchase records ourselves — Microsoft handles Windows Store purchases and retains related data under its own policy. Your release data never reaches us, so how long you keep it is entirely up to you.

Your choices & rights

• For anything related to a Windows Store purchase or billing, Microsoft holds that data — see its Privacy Statement for how to exercise your rights there.
• Uninstalling the app removes its locally stored data from your device.
• If data protection law where you live (for example the EU/UK GDPR or California's CCPA) gives you additional rights, you can exercise them the same way: contact us and we'll respond as required.

Security

We don't run a server that handles purchase data. Microsoft and GitHub each handle their own parts directly and securely. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect the limited data described above.

Children's privacy

Release Tracker is a professional tool for musicians, producers and labels, and isn't directed at children. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.

Changes to this policy

If what the app or this site collects ever changes, we'll update this page and the "last updated" date at the top.
